Howard Stern is getting himself a new Stuttering John. Former Stern intern Steve Grillo, who now runs Hell's Kitchen Pizza at 47th Street and 10th Avenue, has been hired by the Sirius radio shockmeister to conduct the embarrassing, in-your-face celebrity interviews that helped make his show famous. "Stuttering" John Melendez was Stern's chief celeb-chaser for years until he defected to "The Tonight Show" to be Jay Leno's staff announcer.
In addition, long time Stern show contributor Gary Garver has been fired due a Hollywood publicist complaining to Stern and Sirius about Garver's interviewing questions. There are reports that Gary Garver is being replaced on the west coast by Mafia poser Johnny Fratto and Steve Grillo on the east coast. This is another example of how the Stern show has changed. It is not 1996 anymore in the world of Stern.
